How to Get Your Facebook Livestream URL and Stream Key

Setting up a Facebook livestream requires your stream URL and stream key. This guide will walk you through the process of obtaining these and getting started with Facebook livestreaming.

Prerequisites

  • A Facebook account that has been verified
  • No live streaming restrictions on your account
  • Access to Facebook Live Producer

Getting Your Stream URL and Key

  1. Access Facebook Live Producer

    Go to live.fb.com and log in to your Facebook account.

  2. Create a New Stream

    Click on "Create Live Stream" or "New Stream" button.

  3. Configure Stream Settings
    Set up your stream:
    • Add a title for your stream
    • Set privacy settings
    • Choose stream category
    • Select where to stream (Page, Group, or Profile)
  4. Get Stream URL and Key
    In the stream settings, you'll find:
    • Stream URL (starts with rtmp://)
    • Stream Key (a long string of characters)

Important Security Notes

⚠️ Keep Your Stream Key Private!
  • Never share your stream key publicly
  • Don't include it in screenshots or videos
  • If your key is compromised, you can reset it in Facebook Live Producer
